The Journal of Identity and Migration Studies (JIMS) is an open-access semi-annual online review, edited by the Research Centre on Identity and Migration Issues at the University of Oradea (Romania), that promotes high quality academic work and is committed to publishing cutting-edge, provocative, and thoughtful scholarship in the field of migration and identity, as well as in other related fields in the social sciences. It relies on the contributions of the academics, PhD students, researchers and experts working on migration and identity issues. JIMS is conceived to combine multiple and complementary perspectives on migration and identity issues. Our goal is to explore new directions in understanding the complex phenomena of migration and its challenge in redefining identity.
Each article received for publication enters a thorough selection procedure before being accepted or rejected. All articles under analysis are made anonymous and handed over to two referees whose reports shall be synthesized by the editorial team and provide the basis for acceptance or rejection. In both cases the author shall be given immediate notice. Even when an article is accepted, the editorial board reserves the right to ask for changes, both in form and scope. The referees benefit of high experience in the specific topics under analysis and in the overall editorial activity. Within the evaluation procedure, there are several factors, both quantitative and qualitative that are taken into consideration. The main selection criteria are: scientific excellence, originality, novelty and potential interest for the journal’s audience.
